EXTRA-CURRICULAR MAPPING PROJECT

YANGON MYANMAR, 2017

Local culture & heritage along the circle railway line

A group of 15 college students (18-20 yrs old) took part in a two weekend extra-curricular learning programme. Under guidance of facilitators they completed a series of exercises to explore six neighbourhoods along the Circular Railway Line and identify, map and research sites of significance (buildings, monuments, shops, restaurants) in each place.

Based on the student’s fact-finding, professional copywriters and photographers created content and a local artist made an illustrated map depicting the highlights of each of the neighbourhoods. The process included feed-back sessions and was concluded with an Instameet with 50 passionate young photographers sharing the results with local residents.
